September 12, 2009 Grand Teton NP

MMG and I spent the morning driving through the Park looking for wildlife, but wound up with more scenery than animal pictures.

We did spend a lot of time watching a young Osprey "practicing his moves" in preparation for leaving the nest. There are more pictures than usual on one subject, but I thought all of these were "the best".

I am Getting Psyched

Almost Ready

Oh, Yeah!

Getting Tough!

You are my lunch, fish!

Taking a bow!

Whew! After that this will seem real tame:

Sandhill Crane

Now to the scenery:

A panorama of the Tetons and Jackson Lake so you can see where things are. Click to enlarge.

Compare this picture to the panorama. Can you name the mountains?

A reason that some pictures are a little "cloudy" this week. A lightning caused fire at south end of Jackson Lake.

Recognize this mountain reflected in Jackson Lake?

The Snake River flowing towards the Tetons.

Now, in closing, a couple of close ups:

Another Flyaway

A bee working on Thistle down. Would you have thought Thistle down has nectar?

Around noon our RVForum friends arrived and we spent the rest of the day showing them the Park. Tomorrow we'll do some hiking and more scenery admiring.

Love to all,

MMG and DDG
