September 17, 2009 Glacier National Park

MMG and I got to go all the way across the Going-to-the-Sun Road (and back) today for the first time in 10 years! It is still just awesome!

This is what we mean. Capturing the scope of the grandeur is impossible, but these will hopefully give you an idea:

Morning view of the mountains across Lake MacDonaldMorning Valley View

Mountainside Greenery

View from Logan Pass Visitor Center

Lonely Goose Island in the middle of St. Mary Lake

Goose Island and the north shore of St. Mary's Lake

MMG about to hit the trail

Closer look at MMG's destination

Sunshine on the mountain. The line through the middle of the picture is the Road.

Way in the back, glaciers hiding!

And some other interesting things we saw:

Sharon the Road Nazi. Much of the upper Road is still under repair and delays are frequent.

Glacier park Touring Bus. We were amazed at the number of these trekking up and down the Road.

And some small things among the grandeur:

Logan Pass Flower

Going to seed. The Old Men.

Needless to say, we really enjoyed this day!

More tomorrow!

Love to all,

MMG and DDG
