Double Duty, Capitol Reef, Day 3

Two for the price of one tonight. MMG went off with some of our RVForum friends for another off road tour of the hidden parts of CRNP, while I stayed closer to the paved roads and went to the "regular" tourist spots.

Here's what MMG saw for her troubles:

Color Contrasts.

A lava "fin" where it should not be ( the black rock).

Monoliths.

Color Contrasts and Layers.

Shepherd's Home on Wheels. No AC!

The Temple of the Sun.

The Temple of the Moon.

Not every formation is "up". This is a 150 foot deep sinkhole. Note person on the other side.

And here are some of the things that I saw:

Nature's Bonsai. Possibly 400 years in the making.

Mule deer about 10 feet away. Surprised me!

Giant Cottonwoods.

Welcome to the Behunin's house. Circa 1890. 10 kids!

Eagles! One sits on the eggs while the other does a fly-by!

Red Cliffs 1.

Navajo Mountain.

The Spanish Priest.

Petroglyphs (rock etchings). 800 years old?

Red Cliffs 2.

The Castle.

Red Rocks, again.

Different Colors.

NOT Red Rocks!

The Castle 2.

Hot (all the way up to 82!) and very windy (over 35 mph at times) day. Made us all gritty, tired and dehydrated, but the end of the day libations fixed that. Special tonight because today was the last official day of this unofficial rally and tomorrow is departure date for many of the attendees we've gotten to know and like over the last week or so. We're staying on for a couple of more days.

Love to you all.

MMG and DDG
