First, family business. The best picture of the day!

Jackie, home from the hospital and doing great! Oh, and Jim, too.

As I mentioned yesterday, we spent most of the day with Jim (my bro) and Jackie (his wife). It was so good to see Jackie doing so well after her recent spell in the hospital! The sling is for the surgery she had on her rotator cuff, but the "other stuff" that put her in the ICU seems cured.

Now, back to travel stuff. You don't have to go to a National Park to see spectacular scenery out here. These are a few pictures of what we saw on the trip via I-70 east from Grand Junction, CO, where we are camped, over to Rifle, CO, where Jim and Jackie live.

After lunch the four of us made a trip back and forth through the Glenwood Canyon on I-70. We did that because the Glenwood Canyon is considered to be one of the most beautiful sections of the entire Interstate System. It was also the last section of the Interstate System to be completed because of the engineering complexities and environmental concerns and, if you are aware of that fact, it is fascinating to see how those problems were solved. To save space here and to give you a more accurate description please go here.

These are a few of the sights you might enjoy, especially if you read the linked site!

The river visible in the last picture is the Colorado River which flows from its headwaters in Rocky Mountain National Park northwest of Denver across Colorado, where it carved Glenwood Canyon, through Utah, Arizona, forms the borders of Nevada - Arizona and California - Arizona, through Mexico and into the Gulf of California. Along the way it forms Lake Powell, The Grand Canyon, and Lake Mead.

The 1450 mile course of the Colorado River.

More tomorrow!
