If this is Monday, We Must Be In...........

Travel Day! AZ 64 east to US 89 north to UT 12 east to Bryce Canyon National Park. 288 miles, 39.8 gals., 7.3 mpg.

We got a late start (9:15), then stopped in Page, AZ for fuel and grocery shopping (yes, I know we went to 3 grocery stores 2 days ago in Flagstaff, talk to MMG) and lunch in the Wally World parking lot. Then, when we crossed the AZ-UT state line we lost another hour, so we arrived here at Ruby's Inn RV Park and Campground about 5 PM, just in time to be first in line in the laundry room!

First, let me make good on my promise from a few days ago to get some pictures of the US 89 "Painted Desert" for you. MMG did a great job taking these while bouncing around and trying not to get knocked down by the rough road. Please excuse the occasional bug splatter on the windshield......

And that's not all. This picture shows a little depression in the desert floor. That "depression" is the top of the Colorado River Gorge, "only" about 1500 feet deep at this point, but on its way to 5000+ by the time it gets to the Grand Canyon!

Colorado River Gorge

Ruby's, like all campgrounds, has some pluses and minuses. Plus, our Verizon air card works here! Minuses, we're parked under a big old Ponderosa Pine and our satellite dish cannot get a signal and the regular TV antenna gets only "ghosts" on about 5 channels and nothing on the others. Oh well, I guess we'll have to enjoy the scenery and entertain each other!

More tomorrow!

Our Love to you all!

MMG and DDG
