Just a quick note to let you know everything is OK here.
The weather forecast for today was for a high of 58, 70% chance of rain and gusty winds, so MMG and I decided to go down to Flagstaff, about 70 miles south, to restock the larder at less than National Park Concessionaire prices and get some needed things that just are not available here.
We accomplished all that and had lunch at the Bun Hugger restaurant, kind of a smaller scale Fuddruckers. Everything was as we remembered, made to order, greasy, hot, and delicious. The onion rings were mediocre at best, but somehow they disappeared. And, it's kind of entertaining to let your imagination run with thoughts of the origin of the name of the restaurant.....
I won't bore you with a list of all the establishments we visited, but you might be interested to know that we discovered that Flagstaff, with a metropolitan marketing population of 125,000 or so, located at the juncture of two Interstate Highways, I-40 and I-17, home to Northern Arizona University and the Lowell Observatory, has no Super Wally World, only an old, crowded, small, Not-at-all-Super Wally World! An assistant manager told us that they were planning to build a SWW in about two years. Wouldn't want to rush things!
After the shopping spree we went down to the Oak Creek Canyon and conducted commerce with the Indian Native American Original Occupants who trade there, then headed "home".
We're tired and trying to figure out how to get some dinner without actual making any effort......
Oh, and while we were gone? Not one drop of rain. Sunny and 67. Windy, though.
Back to being tourists at the Grand Canyon tomorrow!
