MMG and DDG High Again

Touring in the Tahoe again. Today we visited the Grand Mesa and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

High? Grand junction sits at an altitude of about 4900 feet. Our lunch spot (see below) was at 10,839 feet (according to the sign there). On the way......

We're headed above that snow line.

Nearing the top.

View from almost the top.

View from the top --- more peaks to conquer!

Lunch spot. Alt. 10839.

We weren't the only ones enjoying our lunch lake!

View on the way down.

On to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

Looking down into the depths of the Black Canyon.

Nature's painting on the canyon wall. Interesting mixture of rock types.

Unlike most NP canyons, at BCOG, you can drive down to the bottom.

Where did the river go? Gorge is so deep and so narrow it makes picture taking tough.

Flowers, though, make it easy. MMG found all of these on the BCOG rim.

Th-Th-That's all folks!
